Principal O’Nan Brings Leadership, Ideas and Improvements To Hilton Head High School
Recently, I was invited with other members of our community to attend an Island Connection – Business – Community – Education presentation at Hilton Head High School (HHH). The presentation was given by Amanda O’Nan, principal of HHH. Mrs. O’Nan shared what makes Hilton Head High School an award winning school and one which the Hilton Head Island Community can be proud.
O’Nan asked for ideas from the group on how the High School could be improved. A short overview was followed by a tour of the school along with a question and answer idea exchange session. The whole event was very informative.
Hilton Head High School Exemplifies Excellence For South Carolina Education
Some of the facts about Hilton Head High School include: 1307 students, 82 faculty and staff, SAT Scores are higher than the national average. The state of South Carolina has ranked Hilton Head High School as Excellent for the past four (4) years.
In recent past years, the school has been awarded the Palmetto Finest for all high schools in South Carolina. For the past four (4) years, the athletic program has won the Directors Club. This award honors the state’s top athletic high school program. Just this fall the HHH boys and girls Cross Country teams, the girls Swim team, and the girls Volleyball team have all won the State Championship!
While touring the high school, our group was introduced to an advanced IB class, ROTC class (which has also excelled). We viewed a robotics class, a Fourth year Mandarin Chinese class, Advanced Calculus, an English emersion class, a class with “at risk” students and more. HHH tries to provide whatever the student needs to succeed. It was interesting that when we visited the classes, it was a student Hilton Head High School who explained to our group what was going on. It was easy to see, the teachers and staff were ready to help the students in any way.
Hilton Head High School is yet another wonderful “jewel” of Hilton Head Island along with our outdoor sports, weather, arts and culture, top-notch medical facilities, shopping, dining, bike trails and more.
Hilton Head High School’s Top Results Makes Relocation Concerns Easier For Parents
The students that come out of Hilton Head High School will become productive and great citizens. With a school like Hilton High School, it helps to make our job of real estate much easier. People moving to Hilton Head Island like to be with winners and Hilton Head High School is surely a winner.
