If you love animals and nature, you can take a much closer look at the local reptiles and study how to safely and respectfully interact with them while getting an understanding of how they are locally important to the ecology.

Here are a couple of Signature Experiences to enjoy when down in Hilton Head Island:

  • Antebellum Home Tour

If you are looking for a group activity that’s fun and enables you to enjoys and engage in a recreational activity, then consider going for the Antebellum Home Tour of the Heyward House Historic Center. The trip takes two and a half hours with different prices for the public and students. The Cole-Heyward House is one of the eight remaining antebellum homes in Bluffton. You can take a stroll down oak-lined and picturesque streets as you get to learn about the cultural heritage, history, and architecture of the Island.

  • Mixology

This bar experience is only available for persons that are 21 years and above and can be done in groups of people and lasts about two and a half hours. You will learn the art of creating different cocktails from combining various ingredients and creatively painting your own cocktail glass.

  • Beyond the Battlefield: The Hilton Head Island in Civil War Tour

The Coastal Discovery Museum provides a one-hour tour that allows you to learn more about the experience that former civilians, slaves, and soldiers went through during the Civil War on the island. A combination of first-person accounts coupled with historic photographs are used to discuss the significance of the Battle of Port Royal, the strategic authority of Hilton Head Island, the foundation of freedom for the slaves and the everyday life of the soldiers. This tour allows you to go back in time and learn about the exciting phase of Hilton Head Island’s history before the development of resorts, tennis courts, golf courses and modern-day development.

  • Gullah Heritage Trail Tours

The two-hour bus tour goes through the 10 Gullah-Geechee neighborhoods found in Hilton Head Island and narrated by the Gullah natives whose main focus is on the Gullah-Geechee heritage, its forklore, language, food, and historical sites. Group tours for this experience can be made available upon request.
